A 2D platform fighter where the former U.S. presidents can duke it out on the debate stage!

What is The Great Debate?
*Work in Progress*
Have you ever wished that instead of elections, presidents just had to fight each other for the title, no holds barred? If George Washington used his wooden teeth to take down Teddy Roosevelt on his horse? If Abraham Lincoln suplexed Obama off the White House? If Donald Trump built a wall on William Howard Taft? All of this and more is possible in The Great Debate, the 2D platform fighter, where actions speak louder than words!
A platform fighting game with U.S. presidents had always been a dream of mine since my sophomore year in high school. The concept of having all of these confident and collected characters really stuck out to me, and I am glad I followed through on this idea! (For the most part) I had been working on Arkmaster for a couple of years now, and it was honestly getting pretty repetitive. I wanted to try to make something completely and utterly different from it. Luckily, I was a lot more familiar with the software at this time than when I started Arkmaster, so it didn't take long for me to get the first few characters made. It took me a while to get the physics system and hitbox mechanics to function as I imagined, but I persevered to a point where I was content with it. Right now, there are six fully playable presidents as well as two stages. (There is also a placeholder character and stage shown in the screenshot below, most likely to be removed for the release, but we'll see.)
Overall, I never really expected myself to take this game as far as it is now; it was only created out of the fatigue of Arkmaster. I'm definitely considering working on this later down the line, perhaps as an actual Steam release rather than Itch, but in order for me to get to that point, there are a lot more characters, stages, and mechanics to add before I feel comfortable releasing it to the public.
