What is Project Origin?

Join Tobias on a journey through his laboratory, exploring the strange properties of expandium, a local element found in the nearby caves. Make your way through 10 different levels, learning the basic principles of size and scale, all while trying to get to the end as quickly as possible.

It was the summer of '24, and one of my friends came up and asked if I wanted to join him on a project for the Game Makers Tool Kit Game Jam. I, of course, said yes. I wasn't sure what to expect, honestly. I had heard of "Game Jams" before this, but hadn't yet actually participated in one. This project was a lot of fun to make, but we definitely had some struggles. Getting the right editor version, coordinating the GitHub, sending over artwork, etc. We even made a temporary project before this one to actually make sure this was something we could feasibly achieve!

Overall, what stuck out to me the most in this project was learning about team communication, how to coordinate making one game together, and understanding the importance of playtesting. (Our game was actually impossible to beat on release.) If you enjoy difficult 2D puzzle platformers with control over the environment, I would recommend you try this one out!
