What is Project Origin:
Other Dimension
?

After receiving a pamphlet in the mail, you find yourself at S.C.A.L.E. Labs, a company dedicated to solving all of the world's problems, but, as of late, they haven't had much success. You agree to help do some QA testing with their new product, the Scalar Headset. This headset can alter the scale of certain objects on the X, Y, (and now) Z-axis, but it sounds like the development has been tough. As you venture inside, you begin to uncover the truth about S.C.A.L.E. Labs...

Project Origin: Other Dimension is the sequel to Project Origin, now in 3D! This time, with a more solidified narrative, branching dialogue pathways, and over 5 unique endings to explore as you make your way through S.C.A.L.E. Labs once again.

This was an in-class project at Bradley University during the second semester of my freshman year. The assignment only had 2 stipulations: 1. The player is not allowed to jump, and 2. It must be in 3D. Not a lot to work with, so I had a lot cut out for me. This was my first time making a game in 3D, but also my first time making a sequel as well! I spent a lot of time writing out all of the branching narratives, and had my friends read them over to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

Overall, I learned how to develop 3D games with this project, as well as navigate the onslaught of bugs associated with the format. I honestly still prefer developing 2D games, but getting this experience was highly valuable. In addition, I cranked up the story in this game to be more of a main focus, and I'm very glad with what I ended up with! If you like narrative-driven 3D puzzle platformers, I can't recommend this enough!
